airport disk not mounting

I have the new Airport Extreme 802.11n, and I'm trying to get an Acomdata 250 Gig HD to mount. I repartitioned it HFS+, HFS+ Journaled, FAT 32, nothing seems to be working here. As soon as I connect the drive and power it up, the base station indicator turns solid amber, and the wireless connection drops. Not sure what else to try here. Any suggestions?

Another note, the HD was originally in a FW only case, and I swapped it over to a USB 2.0 / FW case from Comp USA. I've never had a problem using this drive when connected either way, and before the repartition, it was actually running a dual partition, one was FAT 32, and the other was HFS+ being used as a OS back up via CCC.

Thanks guys,

something else: Apple states that any USB storage device should use a block size of 512 to work properly. How do I know? Acomdata makes no mention of this kind of info in their literature.

Once you plugged it in did you set up (with the new Airport Software) to setup the drive in the new Apple Extreme router yet?

I hadn't actually considered that order of operations. Problem is, that when the USB device is connected the Airport drops out, goes into auto-restart, and stays there..... so.. I can't really run any kind of configuration utility with the USB drive plugged in.
