Airport Extreme and regular Airport?

Hi,

I am wanting to get an Airport connection set up in my house. I have an iBook G3 and a PowerMac G4 (quicksilver) and am planning on a 17" PowerBook.

I am wanting to do this with AirPort Extreme, however the iBook and PowerMac are both only compatible with regular Airport as far as I know. So, my question is this: can I put a regular Airport card in my iBook and PowerMac and an Airport Extreme card in the PowerBook and set up an Airport Extreme base station and still use it as normal?

Also, is Airport the best wireless networking option available?

everything apple has for AirPort is completely compatable, backwards and forwards, if its apple and its airport it wll work with anything else thats apple and airport, even if its extreme airport.
