AirPort Extreme .n base + WDS bridging to Extreme .g base = slow?

Hi,

The problem below was solved by creating two wireless networks, conneted at the "root" with Ethernet and the master bases for both networks set to "bridging" mode.

Hi all,

I got the new .n base station, and was somewhat disgruntled with the speed of the AirPort disk and other network operations. The final straw was getting an Apple TV, and finding that synching a 20GB music library was projected to take a day or so.

I then switched off the AirPort Express that is hooked up to the stereo, and the ole AirPort Extreme .g base that functioned as a wireless bridge to the stationary PC and the printer. Speed immedieately increased by a factor of 5-10.

Has anybody else experienced this? Are there any good hints as to how I can do wireless bridging without seeing speed drop off sharply?
