Well there is a number of fixes because there "seems" to be a problem with 10.5.5 wireless with some newer Mac book & MacBook Pro models with a certain (I am not sure what brand) of wireless chip (that is inside the Mac). So the question you have to ask yourself is did you have this problem with 10.5.4 or below?

So here is some steps to see if you can fix the problem yourself:

1. Go to System Preferences (in the Dock)->Network. Once in Network look at the top of the pane and use the drop down button to create a new "Location" calling it anything you want. Then look down the pane a select the button "Advanced". When the drop down comes down select the tab "TCP/IP" and then push the button to request new IPs.

I say this because I suspect there is something wrong with the 'Automatic" Location. i had a similar problem a while ago and doing the above step fixed things for me. I even have different locations for different places I go to.

2. Turn of Airport. Then mosey to the folder /YourHardDrive/Library/Preferences/ and take the files:

com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
com.apple.network.identification.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist

Then put them in the Trash can (you might have to give your Administrator password). Immediately RESTART then Mac (the restart will take a while to rebuild these files so be patient). After the restart re-join the wireless network.

3. Mosey to the application /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and delete the saved password entry for you wireless (if you are using some sort of security). Then re-join the wireless Network.

4. Find a 10.5.4 backup and get the files I listed in step 2 and replace those files in the 10.5.5 machine. to do this boot from the backup and then replace those files from the 105.4 to the 10.5.5 volume you have mounted as a drive.

Now some people have reported at least one of these steps helped them. Also people have reported the 10.5.5 doesn't seem to like the older wireless signal "B" signal. Changing to the wireless signal "G" fixed some people's problem to.

I surely hope one of these steps help you. If none of them do then if you have AppleCare is to call them & politely discuss the problem with them. Just remember to give them all the steps you tried before calling them, as well as the symptoms.

Good Luck. I know this is a pain and can be kind of frustrating but if you keep a cool head you might get through the problem.

thanks Satcomer for your fast response.

I remember clearly that i had no problem a few updates before , but i dont remember when exactly happened.
I've allready change the location and i'll see ..
after that i'll continue with your next steps.
Of course i've some questions for next steps but not for now.
i hope we'll talk again.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Thanks Satcomer, #2 of your fix worked, but on 10.5.6 the metadata files are housed in:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
