AirPort issues

When trying to connect to my home wireless network, AirPort detects the network with a strong signal, but doesn't get past "getting status...". It says it's connected yet doesn't work.

On what Mac running what version of OS X? Plus what mode of wireless is the wireless router broadcasting?
