Airport / Wifi connection - seems to hang randomly at the office? (...and there only)

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet at work. Specifically, I'm having trouble keeping my connection to the Internet (Wifi) and it's driving me nuts.

I don't know what the problem is, because this is literally the only Wifi connection I have ever had trouble with. Moreover, none of my colleagues are experiencing the problem on their Windows PCs, even if the connection is, by all accounts, somewhat unreliable anyway. The problem seems to be specifically related to my using a Mac. It doesn't seem to be system-specific either : I just upgraded from an old Macbook to a Macbook pro, and the problem is exactly the same.

The funny bit : once the connection "hangs", if I turn Airport off and turn it right back on I can browse again. Fun, eh. I haven't been able to find a pattern - it seems to just hang randomly, regardless of the intensity of my Internet activities. I'm experiencing the problem in a wide range of programs (iTunes, Firefox, Thunderbird, NetNewsWire, etc).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Christophe

What Mac running what version of OS X are you running? What version of the wireless signal(a, b, g or n plus security) are you connecting to?

1. Well I upgraded to a new machine, so it's running Snow Leopard with all the latest updates (and it's a 13 inch Macbook Pro). However I was having trouble with this Wifi connection on my old computer, which was running Tiger. This was a month or so ago so I can't say with certainty that it was dropping in the same way.
2. g, WPA2. Weird thing : switching the password to WEP on MY machine (not touching the router at all) seemed to keep me connected all day Friday. It's not even supposed to allow me to do that, is it?
