alright,here is the situation.i have two g3 ibooks.i know they have some sort of wireless card in them but am not sure.i want to setup a wifi network but dont want to have to buy a airport instead i just want to have them on a wifi network i am setting up on xp machines i have,they do not have pcmcia slots so i have no idea what to do.
so any info will help greatly.

Set one of your PCs as a wireless router with DHCP capabilities.
Set your iBook to connect to internet through wireless and to get their address via DHCP.
And you're ok (but without security).

Speaking of which, I still can't get my 1 PC with a LinkSys USB wireless box to and running XP SP2 to connect with my Airport if I turn encryption on. Actually, let me rephrase that. It will "connect" but won't transfer data. Is this normal? Anyway around it? Do i just need a better PC wireless box/card?

The simplest option would be to purchase a Linksys or other branded wireless router. They are quite cheap and very easy to set up. However I've found setting them up with encryption can make the setup process difficult.

Much cheaper and far less time consuming than setting your XP machine up as a base station.
