AlBook keeps on locking up...

Okay, strangely enough every time that my computer locks up...

iTunes / BitTorrent / Safari / iChat are open...


and everytime I have to restart it: I get this:

I haven't had the time to call AppleCare, but I wonder if I should or not...


I am thinking the PRAM Battery, but any other ideas?

Reset the PRAM, then go to System Preferences and set your choices. Make sure you go to Time & Date to set the correct day & time and time zone.

The 12" powerbooks don't have a PRAM battery. The clock holds a charge from the main battery. If you are getting the date/time error every time you boot your computer, then your battery may need to be replaced, or your AC adapter isn't charging properly. There are several things to try...

1. Apple released a battery updater patch several months ago. This fixes a problem where batteries would show a full charge, but after dropping a few percentage points would bottom out to 0%. You can also boot in Open Firmware (Apple-Option-O-F) and at the prompt type in first "reset-nvram" and then "reset-all" and let it reboot.

2. Try a new battery.

3. Try a new AC adapter.

If none of those things work, you may be looking at a bad connection between the AC plug and the motherboard, which would require a repair or replacement by an Apple authorized service provider.
