all new G5s are 90nm!

since there is less silicon theoretically it should cost IBM less to produce since they can get more chips per wafer, thus reducing costs, which should then help to reduce the cost of the chip. Hopefully, some of these savings were passed onto Apple and then onto us... I guess that is how we are getting double the chips for the same price.
 
I don't think the less silicon will make the chips cheaper. The 90nm production technology is not yet good enough to have a good yield (compared to 130nm). Thus there is still a high rate of waste and this is costly.
 
now they just need to get the xserves past 2.5 GHz. Its hard to justify an xserve to my clients when they can get a faster powermac.
