Now Safari crashes every time I launch it. I have trashed it and reinstalled it, the homepage is set to apple.com and it always crashes before the page has loaded. It was great in the beginning, and Explorer works fine.

Uuugh!

Sounds like maybe it got corrupted. Try reinstalling. Without knowing more about your system, it is impossible to assist farther.

<rant>when will people learn that to get help, they need to tell as much info as possible?!</rant>

no, i already reinstalled it once, and the same thing keeps happening. it worked fine for about a day, and now it's *****.

and FYI, i'm on an old titanium laptop, 512 MB RAM, 667 MHz.

[remember, tehre are kids out here. -gia]

Rather than reinstalling Safari, you should get rid of its preferences. Look at 'Library/Preferences' in your user folder. There you should find one or more files containing 'Safari' in their names. Get rid of them all and then start Safari.

Search the threads. Lots on this already. Could be as simple as needing to clear/deactivate your cache.

this happened to me.

i'm installing .ttf fonts from my windows to my ibook. i thot this is smart. apparently NOT!.

as a result, my safari crash as soon as i launch it. even if i re-install the safari. then i removed all the new fonts and boom, my safari is back to normal. ehehhe...

maybe u had installed something that caused the problem, try uninstall it.

Ooops, missed the part about install/reinstall. I actually wanted to know what version of OS X you were using.

oh sorry, 10.3.3

i emptied the cache, trashed the prefs, restarted the computer and it's the same thing every time! so weird. and explorer runs fine.
