AMD and IBM!!! hummm

I don't see how this has anything to do with Apple. IBM has a huge semiconductor business and they do stuff for lots of companies and this is nothing new/ooto. Not to say that Apple might not have thoughts, but this particular news item means nothing one way or the other.

It has alot to do with Apple. Don't forget Apple has a stake in two semiconductuor businesses. Though not sure how much their ARM holding are these days but have you not forgotten that they are the "A" in the AIM alliance? They own the rights to PowerPC name just as much as Motorola and IBM. They may not make the chips but they do contribute to the development of certain PowerPC chips.

So Apple is a part of AIM, how does this have any bearing on IBM doing some work for AMD? The issue is not that Apple doesn't care about cpu's, it's just that IBM and AMD doing some joint work together in and of itself can't be extrapolated to any bigger meaning in the Apple world. There wasn't a single mention of Power or PowerPC in the announcment, just that AMD is having some manuf./technology problems with their cpu's and their looking for a more knowledgable partner to help them.

Again, non news for Apple/PowerPC philes.
