Another iSight question...does it work for digital movies?

Can I use the iSight camera to create mpegs? I want to video some speakers, combine them, and turn the whole thing into a DVD. Does the iSight work for this, and if so what software do I use??.... or do I need a regular digital movie camera?

Terry

Keep in mind, though, that the iSight is primarily a "web-cam," and will not yield DVD-quality video.

I would highly recommend a real DV camer or video camera for any kind of DVD work.

You'd need to be fairly close to the speakers (I thought you meant like stereo speakers at first! ::ha::) to get even moderately good quality, as I don't believe the iSight has a zoom feature. And even if you sit front row, there will probably be enough space between your computer and the speakers to make them appear very small. You'd definitely be better off with a camera with a real zoom.

Yes, you can do that with the latest version of iMovie. The version that comes with iLife '04.

I have iMovie installed and don't see how it can be used to record video from the iSight? What am I missing?

Is the iLife version different from the iMovie that came bundled with Panther?

It sure is. You need iMovie 4. Get iLife04, it is well worth the $49. It makes all the iApps work like they should have always worked. iPhoto4 is awesome. That alone is worth the price.
