Any people say the premium on Macs is high.

AMD and Apple both are in the HyperTransport "consortium"... not too surprising there. Or the fact that Intel chips are inside the XServe.

Those costs though... ever located a G4 Pegasos motherboards? Not as high as 6k for one, but still priced at a premium.

That I know, but I wouldn't of expected any current AMD support on a eval board. Boards like the Pegasos and AmigaOne are still using pretty old technology on the surrounding architecture.
 
No mention of an AMD southbridge on the linked page... Direct link to what you mean? And maybe an explanation of the thread's title that puts the link in some perspective for me? :)
