Any way to convert .mdf to a Mac/Toast compatible format?

I read that you can just rename the .mdf to .iso but I tried it and after I burned it it did not work. Any other programs or methods that are more effective?

duplicate the file and rename it to .ISO and try opening it with toast/disk util

Ok, I will try the duplication first. Also, I've read that I need to burn it "as an image," what exactly does this mean?
