ANy Way To Thoroughly Test a Firewire Port?

I have an iBook G4, and am having problems with the firewire port. It does not seem to recognize connected devices, even though the port supplies power to a device.

I tried the system profile, and it regonizes the presence of a firewire port, but when I connect a device to the port the system profile says "Information not available"

So, is there any way to more thoroughly troubleshoot this firewire port?
 
Apple Hardware Test. It should have come with your computer when you got it, so hopefully you still have it somewhre lying around. :)
