Aol Crashes---that Colored Ball From Hell

AOl crashes on me ALOT---in the middle of doing financial business, writing e-mail, etc

I have an eMAC running Panther. This problem is getting worse,and I just can't get any help from AOL. I have had "chats" with Wynnsel, Noel,Jerome,Verrel,and Jamae---in the middle of all of this nonesense---AOL crashed. One of them was going to send me help via e-mail. I'm still waiting. I have repaired my permissions---just about every day. Please help me---maybe I should re-install AOL?

i would remove AOL and leave it that way. :) but...have you trashed the preference files for AOL? might want to try that before a reinstall?

I did trash my preferences, and so far---so good! My problem is that I'm so used to AOL---I hate to change, and I'm afraid " you can't teach an old dog new tricks". One of these days I'll go with DSL and then just access AOL by using BYOA.
 
How much RAM do you have? AOL dosent run too well on my 256MB. I never use AOL, but show people that there is AOL for Mac. :).

1 GHz
Mac OS x 10.3.3

As you know I have an eMac, so it's all one piece. I haven't had to do a force quit when AOL freezes in a while. I think that trashing my preferences, and repairing my permissions helped alot. I booted from the CD and repaired permissions that way.I also emptied my trash. I don't think that Mac users have a problem with viruses, but sometimes when I receive an e-mail from a friend that has a PC---my Mac acts strange, so I trash whatever it was that was sent to me.

I repaired my permissions that way the fist time, and then I booted from the CD and did it that way.

As I said before---so far so good.
