aol sucks -- which new Email program? / save mssgs?

alas, it had to happen. aol is just soooo sucky, i have to switch, after using it for 10 years. (i know.)
i'm g4, 15", osx 10.4.3
what should i switch to?
i've tried mac's Mail prog, and mac Entourage, a bit, but i'm not sure about em.

is it easy to automatically save ALL messages onto your computer, then read them and reply while not online?
what i'd like to do is go online, quickly download all my emails, then get in a taxi, etc, and reply to emails there, to send later, when i'm in wi-fi range.

does mac Mail do this? i can't figure out how to just go online and grab all my messages, putting them all on the computer until i erase them later...
with aol, it's called automatic-aol - very easy ot automatically save everything -- also cuts down on time loading each individual message to read it, which can be a pain with dial-up.

Mail will do everything that you want. It will even download your AOL mail. Entourage is Mac-only. A quick scan of this forum will reveal at least one new Entourage thread per day. Why do people have so much trouble with this Microsoft communications and scheduling app? Because it sucks, that's why. Use Mail or another email app.

awesome. how do i set Mac Mail to save all messages -- even the ones i SEND -- on my computer? can't figgure this out, yet...
is it a setting in the prefs? can't find a way to download all messages and then get on a trian, etc and work offline...
i know i'm just missing it, but can someone help?
