Apache Question

I'm new to Apache and just wanted to try out OSX Apache capabillites and tried this http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/mac/2001/12/07/apache.html tutorial on O'ReillyNet.

It says that if you turn on Web-Sharing and enter: http://my.ip.add.ress/~username/ I(and others) would get access and load the index.html page that lies in the ~/sites folder.
But when I do that, it says that i'm forbidden to enter, so is it anything that i must turn on or off? I don't use any type of firewall.

Do you get the forbidden error on your own user name? Or just other users? When I was experimenting with Apache on X I found that if I tried to access another users index.html file it would pop that error at me, but on my own it would display fine.

Quite annoying. I didn't investigate far enough to see why it was throwing that error but you might check the directory permissions for the ~/Sites dir.
