Apple 17" Studio Display w/ ADC, how is it?

has a mac beyond repair
I recently just bought a 17" Apple Studio Display on ebay. It's got the ADC connector and also has the translucent casing for it. So it's not the graphite monitor or the flat-panel LCD. It's like a hybrid. I was wondering if anyone has used one and if they could comment on it. Thanks.

They have these monitors attached to a bunch of old G4/450 AGP machines at my university (UTSA) and they're decent monitors. These were only on the market for a year or so, being replaced by the flat-panels. They're capable of some good resolutions at decent refresh rates. My impression was that they looked good and crisp, even though they were running only 1024x768 and OS 9.

Thanks man. But would you say this?:

They are better than the Trinitron G3 (blueberry) and G4 (Graphite) plastic Monitors,
But not as good as the new Cinema Displays out from Apple?

Yes, I would say they are right in between those. I have two 17" Studio Displays, but they're the VGA-connector ones you mentioned. I wish I could have two of yours instead, but the ADC connectors on those would be a problem for me.

Very nice! I got that monitor for a whopping...$101 bucks.

Yeaaa!!! Only problem is that I own a powerbook g4. So I gotta cough up like $50-80 for a DVI to ADC adaptor.

Good ebay eye, I had that monitor, and it was wonderful. It is bulky, although the colors were vivid. Does that model have the USB ports on the back? The other nice feature was the older keyboard would slip underneath to keep the desktop clean.

Wow, really? Thats cool. Yes, it's got the USB ports. Obviously, yes it's bulky, but just looking at it I can tell the colors and resolution will be sharp and crisp and clear. Am I right? :p
