apple.com down?

Dunno why people are freaking out about it, just looks like a DNS problem. Site's still there and no changes.

It was down for me earlier, just after I had installed Safari v80... it freaked me out.

It seems to be back up now.

It's like when people are on the freeway and see cars parked on the side and slow down to see if it was an accident and a jam occurs. Now we need a cop to wave along everyone and say: No wreck, nothing to see here, just a flat tire, move along, move along.

Well, it 1:17am on wednesda...er, Thursday and Apple.com is doing just fine. WAIT!!! OH MY DAMN! Something's changed!!

One pixle on the far right of the site is green now...it used to be white....Er...wait...nevermind. It was a spec on my screen :p :D ;)

Anything with www.apple.com or apple.com or http://www.apple.com doesn't work.

Do any of you have routers? And if so, what brand. I doubt it's my router, linksys. Also, I can ping apple.com but not www.apple.com
Firstly, It is highly unlikely to be a problem with your router - the hardware is not intelligent enough to block one site on a whim. If you can get out onto the internet, but successfully access other sites, then it will more than likely be a problem with the site itself.

Secondly, "Don't panic Mr Manwairing!" - these things happen occasionally, DNS lookups failing for you/your ISP, IP routing from your machine, any of a hundred reasons.

Lastly, putting HTTP:// in front of the web site or not is merely a feature of your browser's intelligence - it assumes that you want to go to the web site, not FTP or TELNET or another protocol and does it for you. http://www.apple.com or http://apple.com is generally a DNS issue with Apple - if they have configured the latter to go to the site it will work, otherwise it will not.

Check out the store and select the PowerMac...at the top of the page listing the PowerMacs is a very interesting item about a G5 powered Dual 2Ghz machine...no joke.

It's gotta be a hack...but a good one!
