apple imovie HD from ilife 5 no audio??

Hi all. i have purchased a new digital camera called the sony 'dsc T9'.
using imovie HD i imported some movie clips running at 30 frames per second. when played back in imovie there is no sound...Why. my other camera that runs @20FPS. has the sound going. is there no support for this resolution of movie clip. or does it have something to do with using sony's memory pro stick? i am sure there are plenty of others in my predicament.

Thankyou So Much For The Reply. I Had No Confidence That An Answer Would Come, I Was Wrong.
I Shall Now Be Able To Compile My Movies In Imovie. Just To Say I Downloaded The 'mpeg Stream Clip' And The Menu Does Not Seem To Have A Clear Reference To Change My Mpeg1 Muxed To A Quality Readable Codec For Imovie. It Says For Example 'demux To M2v Or M1a?? Whats That? Which One Is Correct. Or Do I Have To Purchase One Of The Other Suggested Programs?
I Am Not Technical Really At This Stage, But My Learning Curve Is Steep. I Went Through My Cup Of Coffee Very Quickly I Hasten To Add. Ha Ha Thanks Again.
