Apple Macs & Multicast Mac Adressing

On our network we use two Checkpoint firewalls with the gateway addresses of each assigned to a multicast mac addressing group with one virtual mac address then representing to two physical mac adresses of the firewalls for redundancy & load balancing purposes. Clients getting DHCP addresses see the virtual gateway & not the physical ones.

The problem I am having is that Windows based machines works fine with this for internet access but any Macintosh based machine will not access the internet using this IP adress for the virtual gateway & will only work once you change the gateway adress to the physical gateway address of either of the firewalls.

Is this a security isssue on Macintosh machines & if so is there any workaround ?
