Apple Mail From Two Computers

I use a portable firewire disk to take all my documents to and from my home and office machines.

I would like to make things so that Mail works, with the same database etc, in both locations. (This was easy in Entourage, by setting the user information location to the portable disk.)

How can this be done with Mail?
 
I haven't tried this myself, but you might be able to create a Unix Symbolic link to the Mail folder on your firewire disk and place that in the ~/Library folder (that is in your home folder) in place of the actual folder. You would need to do the same thing on both machines and you will not be able to use Mail unless the firewire drive is connected.

If you don't know how to create a Unix Symbolic Link in Terminal (I don't) there are several utilities such as the shareware app Cocktail or the freeware SymbolicLinker.
