Scored a new (well, unused) Apple Plain Talk Microphone for my old iMac for cheap on eBay to use with Gizmo on 10.4.4. The Plain Talk is powered by and thus compatible with the iMac: tested it to calibrate Speech Recognition and it worked perfectly for that. Problem is calling out with Gizmo, I can hear the other party fine but they cannot hear me very well. Wondering if it has something to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of the Plain Talk, the speed of my processor (iForce 500MHz G4) or the nature of Gizmo/ VoIP. Don't want to plunk down the dough on another microphone without knowing if it would help, so does anybody else here use Gizmo or Skype with an external mic, and what has been your experience regarding the sound quality for call-out?
