Are you sure that g doesn't stand for "Gutted"?
If Apple put out a machine like this, it would be the first Mac ever that didn't work perfectly out of the box. The idea of having to go to all that extra effort of putting in more components just to make it work is completely against the Apple philosophy and more in-line with the cheap-and-nasty PC makers.
