So good news for all the Mobile Me users who are still on an older OS.

Apple finally gave the notice that it would be killing off MobileMe once and for all on June 30th, 2012. The soon-to-be-defunct service has already been replaced with iCloud, but Mac users who are still not running an OS X version older than Snow Leopard can’t hop on the bandwagon. You must have Snow Leopard installed to then install OS X Lion from the Mac App Store and gain access to iCloud. And chances are that if you’re still using MobileMe, you aren’t running the latest version of OS X.
According to Macgasm, Apple has started emailing remaining MobileMe users asking them to get in contact about receiving a free Snow Leopard install DVD. Despite that fact that the OS was released in 2009, Apple is still listing it for $30 on its website. MobileMe users now have the opportunity until June 15th to grab the software for free by following the directions in Apple’s email. You can also follow this link to login with your MobileMe account and claim your copy of Snow Leopard. https://www.me.com/snow-leopard/
OS X Lion costs $30 and can be purchased exclusively in the Mac App Store. You’ll need Snow Leopard to install it, and then you can gain access to all the iCloud goodness the rest of your Mac comrades have been enjoying for the past 7 months.
Existing MobileMe users also have free access to the 25GB iCloud plan through June 30th. If you need help transitioning from MobileMe to iCloud, see our handy walkthrough. (http://www.cultofmac.com/122212/this-is-how-youll-transition-from-mobileme-to-icloud-gallery/)
