"[Until early September,] Microsoft wasn't sure whether it would just demo Aero or supply it to PDC attendees," one source told me recently. But the decision to only demonstrate Aero was made because of the long delay between the PDC and Longhorn's final release, which is set for late 2005. If the company released all of its UI work now, its OS competitors--such as Apple Computer and various companies and organizations in the Linux camp, all of which have fewer customers and faster release cycles than Microsoft--would be able to clone its work before Longhorn releases. This problem has dogged Microsoft in the past, the most recent example being Apple's Expose technology, which will ship in Mac OS X 10.3 late this year; Microsoft has been demonstrating Expose-like technology for years now, but the work won't show up in Windows until the Longhorn release at the earliest."

To be honest about it, i never heard about MS making an Expose like app on longhorn builds or anything about it. Unless he means the little "show desktop" icon that is even on XP. :p Nevertheless, I love apple expose! But the problems that expose fixes for GUI desktop is less problematic on XP for its task-bar system.

Update: I spoke with some longhorn zealots, indeed longhorn has an expose type application, and there is even one ported for XP made by an independent author.

OSX-Devlinite, are you a developer? How is it that you 'love exposé'? I thought only developers have actual access to Panther! I'd like a copy, too - Oh, maybe I'll wait until it's actually released, instead of beta-browsing.

So Exposé is somehow a 'cloned' technology? How does a company 'rip off' a supposed feature that is still only an under-developed (likely also ripped off) idea by MS? It boggles my mind to consider that some would think that MS could even come up with 'their own technology', assuming that they have something original to develope. At least this article does not seem to have any 'official' MS support

If I missed your sarcasm in providing this so-called factual piece, I apologize! I usually try to resist attempts at provoking flaming, but I can't always see (maybe obvious) sarcasm!

Simply say that you hate me, cause what you just said here is filled with anger. It seems that you need to get developer access preview to know what expose is and does? Even though Steve Jobs previewed it to the whole world in his keynote of Panther preview.

Maybe because we don't know how longhorn will look like? Since you do, tell me how MS expose will work... since you so sure its a rip-off and stolen from OSX, cause that is what you assuming right?

I don't know what you just said, but it I am pretty sure it's time for you prey to your God steve jobs. Yawn.

Update: As I wrote to you this reply, after pressing submit, Safari crashed. Irony of it all.
