Apple versus Crucial memory, price diff!

Hello MacOSX support member,

Just glancing over ram prices. Apple's 2 x 2GB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 memory modules are priced at $1000,-.
Crucial charges for the same specs, EXCEPT I see no 667 number in their list of specs....: only $164,- for 2 x 2GB.

Where is the catch here, Apple over charging or Crucial selling crappy cheap ram? The price difference makes me think that I am probably missing something...

Apple over-charges for RAM, period.

It's always less expensive to upgrade your Apple computer's RAM with 3rd-party RAM.

Crucial has a good reputation, so don't worry about it.

Im using 2x1GB bought from Crucial. Been working well for just over 6 months now.
