Apple Video Adapter

Hi.
This is my first post here, I hope you can help me...

I recently switched a TV. Now that I try to use my Video Adapter cable, the screen just shows white noise.
I tried changing hz's and resolution at the System Preferences but nothing seems to work, though changing hz's changes the pattern of white noise (if that says anything).

The Apple support page said the white noise thing can happen, but it's only a Sync thingy and should work itself out after a couple of minutes...

Well, it doesn't, and nothing I tried worked. Anyone?

You might want to try the Detect Displays button in the Displays preferences because sometimes the computer doesn't always detect it if it's not a computer monitor.

That can't be the problem because I'm sure the display was detected.
The thing is I already used this cable on my older TV and now everything happens the same way except the display won't show the picture...

Any other ideas?
