Should I get an AppleCare 2-year extended warranty for my iMac G5?

Hell, should iMac owners buy 2-year extended warranty for their iMacs?

What's your take?

Please advise.

I wouldn't bother buying the AppleCare extended warranty for a Mac that is already a year or two old - it simply isn't a smart investment. Think of it not so much as insurance, but as a bet. By buying AppleCare now, you're saying "I'm willing to bet $x that this Mac will fail in the next 2 years, and that the failure will cost more than $x to fix." - in the case of the iMac G5, which has been around for a couple of years now and has had very few known faults, most of which are discovered in the first week of use, I simply wouldn't waste my money.

I *might* consider buying AppleCare for the first generation of a newly launched product, but otherwise I simply wouldn't bother.

Interesting point of view, but an iMac G5 my cousin's company bought for him died a few months ago. His company then bought him a MacBook Pro and told him to have his broken iMac G5, which costed him a few hundred dollars to fix.
