Apple's DVD Demo

So is Apple's DVD demo at http://www.apple.com/macosx/theater/dvd.html just something they hacked together, or is there now a way to capture DVD output?

I seem to recall that in 9.2, The player window is some magical shade of black, and the DVD stream shows through that. If you try to take a screenshot, all you actually see is black, not your movie.

Has this changed?

Seeing "black" when taking a screen shot is no mistake. I'm sure that it will be the same in OSX.1. This is pirating protection. I also highly doubt that you will be able to capture a stream out of your video card's S-Video output [if you have one]. I am hoping that the S-Video out will work on Radeons so I can watch DVDs on the TV, but I'm sure it has the same protection that DVD players have to stop people from pirating movies.
