Apples in Cartoons

Has anybody ever noticed that when a cartoon features a computer, it is usually a Macintosh? Foxtrot, Doonsbury, Rudy Park, they all use them. I just noticed that when I was reading the paper today. I wonder why?
Also, print ads that show a web page or something are/were usually taken in Mac OS 9.

Most likely because Macs are quite popular among artistic types. The paper screen shots for me seems to be obvious, as alot of production is done in Quark or ID2 on the Mac platform in new/media sectors. Cartoonist probably looked around their room for an example and voila...sitting on their desk is their Mac.

Yeah, cool huh?
Anyway, I haven't seen any print ads using OS X, (although I haven't really been looking) any ideas on this?

I've seen a few in my area. I guess it depends on if the company is using Quark under 9 to do ads or ID2 under X. If Quark, no real reason to boot into X just to capture.

That makes sense, I guess I should look out for some.

By the way, (off topic) you don't happen to remember how many posts one has to have to get a custom status, do you?

You mean that word under your name? Just go into prefs and change it. :)

At least i don't think there is a post count min.

Are you sure?
Notice it's in "Edit Options", not "Edit Profile", on the bottom of the page :)

edit: oops, that was the avatar...

I have checked in both places; no luck. I will probably wait until I have 50 posts, and if it isn't there then, I will post over in the Site Discussions area.

Every single new phone book in the entire county and possibly more in the area I live had an advertisement on the front for a car dealer.....the stuff was in a web browser window and it was an OS 9 mac internet explorer window in the lime color. I just thought that was pretty cool. As for the custom thing under the name, I was wondering about that when I first registered on this forum a little over a month ago, and it didn't take too long for that part to pop up in my profile. I didn't have it right at first so apparently you have to post a certain number of posts to get that option; and I know I haven't gotten to fifty yet, so theoretically the option should pop up under the user profile sometime soon.

I got it to work, my guess is that it turns on when you reach 35 posts. When it does turn on, it will be right above the "Additional Information' section in 'My Profile'.
