MAC OS 10.6.2-MACPRO WORK STATION.-Just lately my received mail will not stay in descending alphabetical order. i.e. a-b-c-d-e etc. I change it with the arrow to do this and the next time I open mail up the order is in reverse like with-z-y-w-v-u. never had happen before and it is irritating. I have ckd. all settings etc. Anyone have any clue? I really don't want to trash the prefs. and reset everything.
Thanks

Could it be the prefs file is wrongly permissioned or locked? That'd mean that Mail.app can't write to the preferences file. Check in Finder (Get Info) whether you are able to read from & write to the file.

I am experiencing this, too, only I try to keep mine sorted by date received, descending, and it (seemingly randomly) switches to sorting by subject, descending, upon launch.

I am using MobileMe (and am syncing just about EVERYthing [preferences, favorites, etc.]) and am starting to suspect some kind of sync conflict or error (even though I keep neither of my machines sorted by subject).

Are you using MobileMe?
