AppleScript for iTunes to toggle crossfader?

it seems to me that the crossfader is only usefull when shuffle is turned on. at all other times, it plays with the music too much.

i would like to set up an apple script to toggle the crossfader without having to go into 'iTunes>Preferences>Playback>crossfader'...

or even better, a script that turns the crossfader on or off whenever i turn on/off shuffle.

possible?

i have no Scripting skils.
