Appleworks 6.2.9 Quits When I Try to Type/ Os 10.4.2

Using a iMac g5 with OS 10.4.2. 768 megs RAM

I just purchased the computer, when I try to use appleworks it quits as soon as I touch any alpha or numeric key. It happens in any of the Applworks modules, Data Base, word processor ect.

The report logs lists this:
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x5d013b00

The only fonts installed are the ones Tiger and/or Appleworks installed.

Have you repaired permissions? Go to Applications>Utilities and open Disk Utility.

After it gathers the information, click on the second hard drive icon at the top of the side bar at the left. Now click on repair permissions.

Does any other program give you grief?
