appleworks 6

We had our iMac professionally upgraded to Leopard os 10.5.4. Now our appleworks 6 does not work. These people said appleworks 6 is no longer supported and I must have a damaged file (I think they did it on the upgrade) and to reinstall with disc. Our iMac came ready to use and I do not have any discs so I can reinstall it. I tried searching for it on the internet but could not find anything but updates. What do you suggest?

It very well could be buried in your original install disks. Open it and look for "Applications" or "Restore" . Otherwise, you'll need to reinstall with an original, possibly available on the internet. As it's discontinued, I don't know the legalities involved--others can advise.

FWIW: I am still using AW with a MBP Intel & OS 10.5.7 with no problems.

Did they reformat the drive and install 10.5.4 clean? Are your files still there? Did they give you the option or let you know that your data should be backed up before reinstalling the OS? If they offered you the option of backing up your data for an additional charge and you declined or didn't back up yourself and now AW is not functioning, that's pretty much on you. If they didn't even mention it, I'd question how "professional" they were. But if there were a backup it would be as easy as dragging Appleworks from your backup and replacing it in your applications folder after trashing the non-functioning AW. Otherwise your going to have to find the installers that came with the machine and see if its easy enough to just get the Appleworks folder off of that. Many installers are different since some there are optional installs where you can just install apps you want and others its not that easy.
