ATI 8500 driver with OS X 10.2.3

I just bought an ATI 8500 and want to know if I should install the Oct 2002 ATI driver updates or just go with the ones currently in the system? Does anyone know if they've made any changes to the ATI driver (especially the ATI 8500) since the orginal Jaguar release? Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated :)
 
i believe your supposed to keep the driver already on your system.

btw, how much did you buy your graphics card for and is the speed improvement dramatic?
 
i've seen marginal improvements in finder performace but the real increases kickin in when i'm playing games. for me ... it was worth the investment. my machine was fast enough for average duties however the lag i experienced gaming prompted me to get the card and i haven't been disappointed. so ... if you need to increase game performance or some other QE functions then the card will be worth the purchase but if you're looking for a dramatic performance in everyday performance then it might not be worth the investment.
