"aty" drivers

i have a g3 700 (i think its called the duel usb ibook) and all 3d things are slow so i was woundering if i need to go and get some graphics drivers.

the system profiler says i have an aty card. does it mean ati? and what drivers should i download from the site?

ATY, as you surmised is ATI. You have the standard ATI Rage video. Since ATI Rage was an Apple standard for several years the driver you already have is the best you are going to do. You are going to have to have a faster graphics processor with more video RAM to speed things up and you cannot install a new graphic card on an iBook.

You can get some acceleration by going from millions of colors to 256 colors. You will lose color depth and richness but there will be a lot less data to process. If the graphics speed is really bugging, you a new iBook or PowerBook with lots of RAM and at least a 1 GHz G4 processor is in order. There just isn't much else you can do to enhance the graphics performance of any laptop.
