On my new MBP 2.33, though I set the slider as desired, whenever I turn it back on it resets itself to the middle.

How can I keep it from resetting?

thanks,
Kevin

The default level can only be set using an account with admin rights. If the account you are using doesn't have them that is why it keeps resetting.

Tommo,

I agree but maybe I don't understand admin rights.

I'm the only guy logged in on this new MBP, shouldn't I be the guy with admin rights? For instance, when I install a new app it asks for my password, doesn't that mean I have admin rights?

How do I go about checking if I have admin rights?

It do be curious.

best,

Is it the Input or Output volume with which you are having trouble? Because the Input level will always self-adjust if you have a built-in microphone, so it seems.

Did you try going where I said?

Apple -> System Preferences -> Sound

Adjust Output volume.

When you set that, then restart the computer - does it reset or fix the issue?

Yes, I did, and it always returns to its previous place. Someone else suggested I didn't have admin rights, but since I'm the only guy using it, I set it up, I'm logged in as the user, I figure I have admin rights and am unsure what to try.

Thanks for getting back though.

best,
elmer
