How do I set the Automatic Phone Number Format in Address Book?

I have followed the instructions in Help but it does not work.

I have set it to +## (##) ####### which didn't work. So then I tried +##(##)####### thinking the spaces might be causing a problem. But, that also didn't work.

It seems like that everytime I return to the Address Book Preferences it has "custom" in the choose Format field. It doesn't show which format you have selected.

I have created the format I want to use and it is listed in Index 1.

Also am I entering the numbers incorrectly when I create a new contact maybe? I'm just typing in 27111231234 when adding telephone numbers. When is it supposed to change the format. At the end when I click the edit button to save the contact?

Please help.

Please help.

Yes. When you're done typing the number string, click "Edit" to turn off editing, and the phone number should change to match your selected format.

Is it doing this?

No it's not changing the number I put into the format that I have chosen.
