Automatically-generated icons for pictures

Before I reinstalled OS X 10.3 on my computer, I was able to see the icon previews of pictures that were placed on my desktop. Since then, I am unable to see this.

I'm assuming it was something I had installed. If anyone knows what app was doing that, I would greatly appreciate knowing again!
 
Click on the desktop, go to the View menu, select Show View Options and make sure Show icon preview is ticked.
