Automatically hiding nonactive application windows

Greetings. The application DragThing has a feature that I find very handy. When I click in a window on the desktop, the open windows from all other applications are automatically hidden. Essentially, clicking in a window automatically invokes the Finder's 'Hide Others" command. I would like my computer to operate in this mode without my having to open the DragThing application.

Does anyone know how I can set up my system (e.g., using the terminal or automator) to have the Finder automatically invoke the Hide Others command whenever I click in an open window or switch between open applications?

Thanks.

'ASM' - (Application Switcher Menu, shareware).

Read MacGuild.org's 'ASM' review. Focus on the 'Special Features' tab's 'Single Applications Mode:' and 'Classic Window Mode:' popup menu selections.
