AVI to DVD question

I tried Toast to burn an .AVI file to a DVD disc and had some success, but a few files I have containing a variety of audio formats failed to include the audio. I also tried iMovie and exporting to iDVD but I'd prefer one app to handle everything. So my question is...is there a better program, preferably freeware, failing that something around the £100 mark, that will do the job for me.

A lot of ones will work in iDVD. Even if they are not mov's make a reference file and then they will go into iDVD - most of them anyway. iDVD has its on encoder.

but with IDVD you will at least get a preview of what it will look like - and sound like
