Hello,

I'm relatively new to Mac and OS X, I'm constantly reading about Backing up and I have no idea where to start. What software do I use to back up, to what media? I have deja vu.

Hey Paul, I too am new to Mac OS X. I'm new to macs!!

What mac do you have?
Go here for info about Backup. It's part of the .Mac membership.

There is a program called Carbon Copy Cloner that will make bootable backups. I say bootable because OS X is based on BSD unix and unix backups need to be "blessed" to boot from the backup.

Also on the page is a program called psync. It will add the ability to Carbon Copy Cloner to schedule backups.

Lastly, it is better to buy an external hard disk (firewire or USB 2) and backup to that so you have something external to your computer.
