you hear people saying... ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES!

how? what does that mean? what do you use and how do you do it?

my weakspot, backing up!!!

I need a way to backup a couple gb's each day (removable), but the options are not really there (budget wise)... Otherwise, it's the ol' Burn CD way.

I just bought Retrospect Express. It seems to be quite functional. I chose it for one feature that it has which other backup s/w doesn't seem to have, and that is that it can back up to an ftp server. This means I can back up my laptop when I'm on the road, to a directory on my web site; and when at home/work, I can back up to a system at work.

Both the machines are backed up to tape under their own administration.

Works quite nicely, and isn't too expensive.

The ftp capability is only available for the Mac version, not the Windows version, which made a change :)

Max.

How do I find out if my CD-RW is supported by Retrospect? I can't find any info on their web site besides the "comprensive device support" comment. I have a new CD-RW that still isn't supported by iTunes, so I'm justifiably cautious about buying any product that claims to support all devices.
