Bad case... does this make any sense to all iPod users?

Nope, I smell a well deserved law suit.

This "lasts til waranty runs out" crap from Apple needs to stop. I had an iMac that had it's CRT go bad a few weeks after the warranty was out. As much as Apple charges, they should be putting some more effort and quality into their design durabiltiy.

Guess I am not going to be buying an iPod soon... Too bad, I've got my eyes on a 10GB iPod for a while now.

I have done the following to my ipod:

scratched the sh*t out of it!!
dropped it more than 10 times on the STREET
had the wheel fall out into the snow when i dropped it
froze it 4 times
i plug it in at least 4 times a day to three different computers

and I bought it when it came out, on nov. 18th and it still runs perfectly with no problems. This seems to me like a engineering flaw, and i think they SHOULD cover that under warranty, i wouldn't let this sway you away from buying one, my bro has a 10gb, dropped it once, works perfect and my friend has a 5gb, works fine and we use them ALL THE TIME :)

AJaX

Be honest, my iPod 5GB still runs prefectly. I have been using it for 4 months?

I got mine in December and I wouldn't be without it. I haven't experienced any problems with it at all - froze it once, but a reset sorted that out. Phatsharpie - don't let one bad report stop you getting one. If this was a serious design flaw I think we'd be hearing far more about it. Esp bearing in mind the massive number of iPods that have shipped

My iPod has been hanged for 3 times since upgraded to 1.1!!

Btw, I found the battery last longer since upgraded.

i can't even count the number of times my iPod has frozen...
i've also scratched the hell out of it..
dropped it twice.
although no wheel falling out :p

today something weird happened.. i started up my ipod, played it, and it would play every 5 seconds..
it started at 0, then u'd hear sound from 5, then 10, then 15.. then 20, and so on.. i thought it was my mp3 (maybe a scratched CD i had imported from).. but it played the other songs that way to. a reset fixed the problem =)

does anyone know what doesn't work when using 9.1 with the ipod?
when i first connected it, it said something like "ipod will not function properly with 9.1" (well, not exactly that.. but along those lines)

everything seemed to work fine though.. and eventually i just hit the "do not show this again" button on the alert.. =P

MacNN is reporting that Apple has extended ALL iPod warranties to 1 year, I guess to avoid bad press. The Apple Store employees seem to have already been informed, too.
