Bad lighting in this picutre

I took this terrible picture a few months ago and I'm wondering if I have the tools to make it better?

As you can see, I should have faced the sun instead of having my back to it.

Is there anything that can fix it?

PS If you've ever wondered what I look like here you go. I have the finely tuned body of a computer programmer.

PPS There are probably better forums out there for this but I wanted to ask the guys that I know from around here.

Darn, the original picture didn't attach because it was too big. I don't see any tools that can shrink it.

i spent a few minutes correcting the image in photoshop.

this is best result i could get without spending too much time on it..
