Basic terminal help

I recently bought a Dell 2311h display to use as a larger, primary monitor for my Macbook Pro 13in (2010). However, I noticed some horizontal dithering in dark screen elements. Looked around and found this site (http://psychtoolbox.org/wikka.php?wakka=BitsPlusPlusPlatformVariations) which offers a solution (see Problem 5) by implementing an nvinject kext to disable snow leopard's native 6/8 bit dithering. Following the steps, I downloaded the .kext and opened up terminal, but I'm clueless after that.The instructions are simple enough, but definitely keyed towards regular terminal users. I'm pretty sure I need to include the location of the kext in the command, but aren't sure how...
 
After looking at the site, add these to the steps listed under Possible Solution 5 and you will be good to go:

1a. Unzip the file

1b. In Terminal: cd ~/Desktop
