A few hours ago, I inadvertently click on a reverse display feature of ATI Display Application and immediately lost control of OSX.4.3 screen.
It turns full of colored stripes and lines (nothing more) and I couldn't accede anything to return to a normal display.
I can boot from another bootable disks with OSX.3.8 and .9 with absolutly normal displays, so nothing wrong with ATI Radeon 9700 (64MB RAM) of my Powerbook G4 ,15" 1.67GHz (the first ones), with 1GB RAM.
I have try to re-install "ATI Displays 4.5.6.dmg" from other OSX boot but the installer don't permit choose Mac HD drive (where the problem still exist), remove the ATI files from the indicated (from ATI site instructions to surpass the lack of uninstall feature in the installer) folders, and put them all there again, because after the subsquent restarts nothing happens to make me happy.
Could someone teach me how return to a previous state (I think it would be from an extern bootable system)?
Thanks in advance
Regards

You could try reseting the Pram which resets the monitor resolution (and the clock among other things) or trashing the Plist for the Display in the user library section. Either might do the the trick as a quick remedy. (Apple+Option+P+R = P Ram reset).

in the working os, open sys prefs and tell the computer to boot into the messed up system, but don't restart. no shut down the computer. turn it on again and hold down the shift key, and keep holding it untill you see it says something like safe boot. now it will not be using the old messed up sys prefs, but ones it knows will work anytime. now open sys prefs and select the correct monitor setting that you know do work, and restart. all shoud be good. let us know if it worked.

Thank you very much Park and Sinclair for your hints. I could get in with safe boot, reinstall/override the ATI files and take control of the display. I made a copy of your tips. They are valuable for what wrong could happen in future.
