Beginning Coding Junky Help!

This question goes for me, and all other 'Wanna-be coding junkies' out there.

What good programs are out there that will let you program (any language) a basic application for OS 9, or OS X? I own Real Basic. But I want/need a compiler of some sort for C++.

I'm also looking for the keyword "Free". Any help is greatly needed!

mac OS X dev tools...
they are as free as the air (well after you purchase of MacOS X of course)

The dev tools that come with OS X are pretty sweet in that you can use it for Carbon apps and Cocoa apps. So if you want to goof around with the C++ that I "think" you're talking about, Carbon would be the ideal choice.

There was also an Apple compiler for free that is a Classic only guy. I don't remember it because that old style mac programming is something I never wanted to have to deal with!
